And just like that, Fall is upon us! We’ve got some exciting stuff happening at the gym to close out the year. Let’s get into it –
First, apologies for the mishap with our Dexascan. Their machine broke the night before they were supposed to come to the gym… fortunately we are back on the books for Friday, October 20th. I will send out another sign-up link later this week for us all to get rebooked. If you need a refresher on what the Dexascan is all about, check this out: Testing Services – Dexa Body
Tomorrow is going to mark the beginning of our Committed Club. We have had such a consistent core of members for so long that we decided to create a way to recognize all of you fit folks. How it’s going to work: Each day you go to the gym, hit the *new* check mark box at the top of your daily SugarWod feed. At the end of the month, we will tally up everyone’s scores. Those who come to 15 or more classes every month will be a part of the Committed Club. Everyone in the group will get a shout out in these monthly emails, plus one person will be randomly drawn from the batch to win a $50 gift card to a place of their choosing.
We are putting together a nutrition/ health challenge for the end of year. We think this is going to be a great way to help everyone keep their fitness goals in mind through the holidays and get a jump start on their New Year’s Resolutions. More details to come next month!
The class programming in October will continue to focus on the overhead squat, bench press, and power clean. We will end the month with 1-rep max tests in all three lifts. There will be one dedicated gymnastics skill session each week. And finally, we will end the month with “Chad”, one of our favorite (?) hero workouts. I remember some low attendance for Chad last year… let’s ‘step-up’ to the challenge this go around ????
Last thing, I am prepping for a Hyrox competition in November. Therefore, I have been running a lot more as of late (sad). I have a dedicated running session every Friday evening. It would be awesome to have some company if anyone wanted to join. It’s usually 2-4 miles of intervals, all done based off your own mile pace. I will copy this Friday’s workout below. If you’re interested reach out and we can setup a time that works for everyone.
4 sets:
300m @ fast pace
300m @ moderate pace
600m @ fast pace
:15 rest
100m walk recovery
Let’s have a great month! Talk soon.
