There are a lot of new faces at the gym so we thought it might be helpful to share a few of our gym rules and common etiquette that we try to uphold at 801.
- Please feel encouraged to share our amazing community with your friends and family, bring them to classes and community events, but also please let us know ahead of time! Especially if they are brand new to CrossFit. This will help us ensure we are prepped to get their waiver signed and give them the best experience possible.
- Leave the gym as clean (if not cleaner) then it was when you arrived. We’ve got lots of people coming and going, working out throughout the day, and nothing is more of a drag then showing up to some surprise chores.
- We want to be as welcoming of a community as possible, so please make sure to introduce yourself to new members and get to know them.
- Try to wear clean shoes to the gym. If we can all do our best to limit the amount of muck that gets tracked in from outside, I’m sure everyone will appreciate it.
- Working out during class hours – this is a big one! It is okay to work out during classes, but remember classes always get priority over equipment and space. If you have to work out during class, try to stay off to the side and let the class function in the middle of the gym. This also means if you show up to work out during class and It’s busy, you might be taking some bands and a sled outside. Fortunately, we have lots of time outside of our class hours to use as well.
- Please make sure to show up to class on time! This is huge for our Coaches. We do our best to start class right on time every day, and it can be difficult to have a nice flow for the class if members are starting the workout or strength while others are still finishing the warmup. We understand life happens and it’s unavoidable sometimes, but just keep doing your best and no penalty burpees will be given out ????
- Last one – if you’re not in a rush at the end of class, please hold off on putting your equipment away and stick around to cheer everyone on until they are done with the workout. This is an amazing aspect of our community when we hit it consistently!
Okay, I’ll get off my soapbox now. Thanks everyone!!
