Hello 801 Crew,
Another scorching summer month in UT in the books, and we managed to not lose anyone to heat stroke! Although I think there were a few close calls at the 5pm class on those 100 degrees days….
We just capped off another month of goal check-ins. This was our second time doing this and it’s really something we see immediate value in with the individuals who choose to take advantage of it. We talked with several people about their goals and helped them build a gameplan for things as specific as “I want 10 strict pull-ups by November” to more general goals like “I want to lose fat and gain muscle”. We are excited to see how these guys progress and look forward to more opportunities to help you all breakthrough those plateaus! Next bout of goal check-ins will be in December.
We have booked the Dexascan van for September 27th. It will be onsite at the gym from 8am to 5pm. We will soon send out a registration link and some more materials from Dexa that contains all the information you will receive from getting the scan. We hope you all get one if you’re around that day, it’s really beneficial to get this yearly check-in on your body composition, bone density and metabolic rate, not only for your training in the gym but for overall health as well.
Programming focuses for September – for our strength work we will have 1 bench press, 1 barbell cycling and 1 overhead squat day per week for the next month. For our Metcons we will be seeing 1-2 shorter sprints, 1 heavy, 2-3 moderate-longer and 1 longer workout per week.
Last but not least, big congrats to Rachel, Davis and their teammate Riley for winning the Iron Games team of 3 division! These guys are proving to be two of the best competitive CrossFitters in Utah and we can’t wait to see what they accomplish this upcoming season.
